I photographed this scene on my winter 2017 trip to Death Valley National Park. This was my return trip to Death Valley after a very rough first visit nearly a month earlier. On my first visit, I heavily damaged my camera, and my vehicle was disabled by a rodent chewing on my engine wiring.
I returned to Death Valley for a sense of closure, and it was on my return trip that I took this photo. The name of this photo comes from the fact that this was the final frame taken on my backup camera. I weighted it down, and left it in place overnight for a morning photo, but when I returned the next morning, it too was heavily damaged.
