I photographed this scene on my winter 2018 visit to Death Valley National Park. A large winter storm swept through the region during my visit, leaving a lot of moisture in the air. This photo was taken before sunrise on the morning of day 3. It was great to witness a full cloud inversion from nearly a mile above the desert floor.
If you would like to know more of the story behind this photo, please watch my video journal at the bottom of this page. It was filmed the day that I took this photo.
