I photographed this scene on my winter 2016 visit to Zion National Park. I've always been fascinated by the sheer sandstone cliffs in Zion, but I've found them very difficult to photograph.
I was happy to find this cliff face set against fresh show which helped define the trees and give a greater sense of scale. I waited until the moments after sunset to take this photo in soft cool light.
