I photographed this scene on my winter 2024 visit to Death Valley National Park. In the months leading up to my trip, several large storms passed through the region, brining with them intense wind, but little rain. While wandering along a familiar section of the park, I found this area of wind-deposited course sand among the dried mud. I photographed it in subdued light just before sunrise.
