I photographed this scene on my winter 2019 trip to Death Valley National Park. This is a scene I first tried to photograph in 2018, but with limited success because the conditions weren’t quite right. Thankfully the conditions were much better this time around. I set up my camera around mid-day, then waited for sunset. Just after the sun dropped below the horizon, the clouds to the east caught some wonderful light. It was a fantastic moment to be in Death Valley.
