I photographed this scene on my fall 2017 visit to Zion National Park. It was a very early year for fall color, but this small stand of maple trees still had a wonderful mix of fall color. I was drawn to the large rock in the foreground, then saw the path leading to the lone maple tree in the background, set against a wall of sheer sandstone. This was my favorite photo from my Fall trip to Zion, and one of my overall favorite photos from 2017.
