Eternal Optimist

from $299.00

I photographed this scene on my fall 2015 visit to Zion National Park. While wandering a wash, I found an area of fresh sand ripples from the last rain storm. The sand was not fully saturated, nor was it completely dry. It was in a partially dried state that gave it great form and contrast.

I placed a red maple leaf to help anchor the scene, and give a sense of scale. This scene is lit by beautiful reflected light from a nearby sandstone slope.

If you would like to know more of the story behind this photo, please watch my video journal at the bottom of this page. It was filmed the day that I took this photo.
