I photographed this scene on my fall 2015 visit to Zion National Park. While wandering the rugged east side of the park, I found this scene with several maples deep in a wash. It was a bit past peak fall color in the area, which I learned makes for very interesting photos.

The wash was in deep shade, and the delicate leaves against the blue background create a wonderful texture reminiscent of a night sky filled with stars.
