I photographed this scene on my fall 2025 trip to Zion National Park. It was the first day of my trip, and only a few days earlier, a storm swept through the region, depositing fresh mud ripples through the washes on Zion’s east side. I spotted this subject earlier in the day while it was in harsh sunlight, then returned in late afternoon to photograph it in warm reflected light.
