I photographed this scene on my fall 2023 trip to Zion National Park. This is a subject I’ve had my eye on for many years, but maples are often quite finicky in the fall. The appearance of their fall color changes significantly from year to year, and the leaves are easily stripped by wind. On this particular visit, not only was the fall color glorious, the grass in the meadow was pristine, the wind was dead calm, and reflected light was plentiful.
