I photographed this tree during my fall 2013 trip to Zion National Park. I've walked past this tree many times, but never noticed it. On this particular year, the fall color in Zion was very early, and it had rained the day before my hike into the narrows. These unique conditions made this scene come alive in a way I had never before seen. This is one of the reasons why I love revisiting locations, you learn to recognize when conditions are unique.
