I photographed this scene on my fall of 2024 visit to Zion National Park. Several years earlier, I found these highly-eroded rocks strewn along the white sandstone floor of a broad u-shaped canyon. They tumbled down the slope hundreds or even thousands of years ago, and slowly eroded in place, untouched by park visitors since this area is far off the beaten path. I attempted to photograph this subject one year earlier in 2024, but that photo was on compromised film. When I returned to Zion one year later, it was my goal to finally photograph this scene on fresh film. Thankfully the subject didn’t change at all in that time. The rocks are exactly where they were one year earlier.
