I photographed this scene on my autumn 2022 visit to Zion National Park. This photo was taken late in my trip, and only moments after taking a fall while traversing some rain-slick sandstone. Despite smashing my hand, I was still able to operate the camera to expose this final sheet of film before calling it quits the next morning. By then, my hand was in pain and it was difficult to complete simple tasks such as tying my shoes. Nonetheless, I love the subtle color palette of this photo and how the branch structure is visible among the delicate maple leaves.
