What Once Was
What Once Was
I photographed this scene on my winter 2023 visit to Death Valley National Park. While wandering the base of an alluvial fan where it meets the salt flats below, I found this interesting rock that has succumbed to the elements and lie shattered on the ground at my feet. I crafted a composition in late afternoon, then waited until the blue hour that evening when the light was cool and calm. Thankfully there wasn’t any wind that evening.
