I photographed this intimate landscape on my fall 2015 visit to Zion National Park. While wandering a wash, I saw this scene, and knew it wouldn't last long. The ripples in the sand, and the arrangement of rocks were caused by flowing water several days before my visit. I happened to find this scene before the sand had completely dried, giving the scene added depth.

The fallen maple leaves were compliments of a small tree overhanging this composition. I did not place any leaves in this scene, though I did remove one from the lower right corner. In the days after I photographed this scene, more water flowed through the wash and the scene was once more reinvented.
